Proctors is a Plant Nursery based in Brown Edge, Staffordshire that was established in 1999 and is a family run business . Barry (owner) originally came from a farming background and juggled both in the early stages of the business. However, the quality of the plants being produced meant that Proctors Nursery became popular within Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.
The Nursery in Brown Edge has been in the Proctor family since the 1870s and proved a successful site for cultivating a host of wonderful plants. Due to the heavy soil across North Staffordshire, we believe that if the plants can grow in these conditions, they will grow nationwide across the UK. The nursery has gone from strength to strength and heavy reinvestment has led to the growth of the business. We now have a team of highly knowledgeable and experienced staff willing to help with all your gardening needs.
In 2004 Proctors Nursery acquired around 7 acres of land just off the A53 in Endon, Staffordshire Moorlands, not far from the Peak District. This would become Proctors Nursery Production Site. With a great deal more space, the production juggernaut continued, building areas for potting and temperature controlled polytunnels.
In 2006 further land was purchased on the site doubling the size to around 14 acres. Since then, again due to heavy reinvestment every square metre of the site is now used for one production need or another. Including a distribution centre for online orders where plants are picked, cleaned, packed and distributed everywhere across the UK
Due to the ever increasing demand for quality plants, we have recently acquired extra land to enable us to grow a wider range of plants. Our new parcels of land are situated in East and West Cheshire.
In 2020 Proctors went digital, with an ecommerce website. This allowed customers to buy plants online, catering for the needs of customers that are not able to travel to Staffordshire. With a huge client base from Aberdeen down to London due to the multiple yearly horticultural flower shows that they attend, Proctors are now able to pick, pack and deliver your favourite plants direct to your door. This was especially beneficial for customers due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Proctors now offer a nationwide service delivering through trusted and tracked couriers allowing them to get the plants delivered direct to you.
