PLANTING and AFTERCARE GUIDE
Site Selection

Choose a sunny location for your Achillea. While it can tolerate partial shade, full sun ensures the most vibrant blooms. Ensure the soil is well-drained, as this plant prefers not to sit in waterlogged conditions.

Soil Preparation

Before planting, prepare the soil by loosening it to a depth of about 30cm. Achillea millefolium ‘New Vintage Red’ thrives in well-drained soil, so consider adding compost or organic matter to improve soil texture and fertility.

Planting

Space your Achillea plants about 30cm apart to allow for proper air circulation. This spacing will help prevent disease and promote healthy growth. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant in the hole, and backfill with soil, pressing it down gently to eliminate air pockets.

Watering

After planting, water your Achillea thoroughly to help establish its roots. Once established, it requires minimal watering, making it an ideal low-maintenance choice.

Feeding

Achillea millefolium ‘New Vintage Red’ is not particularly demanding when it comes to feeding. However, an annual application of a balanced fertiliser in early spring can promote strong growth and more prolific flowering.

Maintenance

Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flowering from June to September. Cut back the foliage in late autumn to prepare the plant for winter. Achillea millefolium ‘New Vintage Red’ is hardy and will come back year after year with minimal care.

Dividing

To keep your Achillea millefolium ‘New Vintage Red’ healthy and vigorous, consider dividing the clumps every 3 to 4 years. This not only rejuvenates the plant but also allows you to propagate new plants for your garden.

By following this guide, your Achillea will thrive, bringing vibrant colour and attracting beneficial pollinators like bees and butterflies to your garden.
