PLANTING and AFTERCARE GUIDE
Best Planting Time

The best time to plant Epimedium ‘Amber Queen’ is in spring or early autumn, allowing the roots to establish while soil conditions are moist and easy to work. Planting at these times helps the plant settle quickly and establish strong root growth.

Site Selection

Sunlight: Epimedium thrives in partial shade or light shade and is particularly well suited to planting beneath trees, along shaded borders, or in woodland-style gardens.

Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter is ideal. Improving the soil with compost or leaf mould will help retain moisture while still allowing good drainage.

Planting Instructions
  1. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
  2. Improve the soil by mixing in compost or organic matter.
  3. Position Epimedium ‘Amber Queen’ so the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  4. Backfill gently, firm lightly, and water thoroughly after planting to help the roots settle.
Watering Requirements

Water regularly during the first growing season to help Epimedium ‘Amber Queen’ establish. Once established, plants are relatively low maintenance but benefit from occasional watering during dry periods.

Feeding

Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy foliage and flower production. An annual mulch of compost or organic matter will also help maintain soil fertility.

Pruning

Remove old or damaged leaves in early spring before new growth appears. This helps maintain a neat appearance and allows new foliage and flowers to show clearly.

Mulching

Apply organic mulch around the base of Epimedium ‘Amber Queen’ each spring to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and improve soil structure over time.

Final Tips

With partial shade, fertile soil, and consistent moisture, Epimedium ‘Amber Queen’ will form an attractive clump of foliage and delicate flowers, providing reliable ground cover and seasonal interest year after year.
