The first dark-leaved, purple-flowered Astilbe. A clump-forming perennial with a mound of dark-chocolate foliage which eventually turns almost black. Elegant plumes of purple-pink flowers on slender stems from late spring. Height 50cm. Spread 60cm. Flowers June to August. Partial shade. Prefers rich, moist soil. Hardy.

I did a web search for this particular plant and doing a price comparison I found that Proctor’s Nursery had by far the best price for this, litre by litre, than any other online supplier much to my delight. The plants arrived extremely well packaged, with particular attention taken to each individual plant (tied and small stake in each pot) and was really impressed with the quality of the material.
