PLANTING and AFTERCARE GUIDE
Best Planting Time

The best time to plant Gaillardia x grandiflora ‘Arizona Apricot’ is in spring or early autumn, allowing the roots to establish while soil conditions are moist and workable.

Site Selection

Sunlight: Gaillardia thrives in full sun and performs best in open, bright positions where it can receive plenty of sunlight throughout the day.

Soil: Free-draining soil is essential. This plant tolerates poor soil conditions and grows well in sandy or gravelly soils where drainage is good.

Planting Instructions
  1. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and the same depth.
  2. Improve drainage by adding grit or sand if necessary.
  3. Position your Gaillardia so the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
  4. Backfill gently, firm lightly, and water thoroughly after planting.
Watering Requirements

Water regularly while your Gaillardia is establishing. Once established, it is drought tolerant and only needs watering during prolonged dry periods.

Feeding

Apply a light balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and flowering. Gaillardia x grandiflora ‘Arizona Apricot’ does not require heavy feeding and performs well in moderately fertile soil.

Pruning

Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous flowering and keep your Gaillardia looking tidy throughout the flowering season.

Mulching

Apply a light mulch around the base to suppress weeds and help maintain soil structure, ensuring the crown does not remain too wet.

Final Tips

With full sun, free-draining soil, and regular deadheading, Gaillardia x grandiflora ‘Arizona Apricot’ will provide bright colour and attract pollinators throughout the growing season.
