Privet hedging is a relatively, fast-growing plant expect 1ft 6″ per year. Container plants can be planted anytime of year, plant 1ft apart. Keep well watered during the growing season in the first year, then their roots should have established enough to take up the water they need. It is recommended to trim the hedge a couple of times during the summer months to encourage the formation of a dense, formal garden hedge that is resistant to pollution, making it a popular choice in urban and suburban gardens. Will grow well virtually anywhere other than wet sites in full sun/part shade.
Dig in a bag of our Farmyard Manure when planting and top dress each spring to improve soil.
